Maybe. I'm sure over the weekend he'll chime in.

What are the rules regarding rostering drafted players? For prospects not on a team's current roster, do they have to be on my paid minors roster or could they just be in my prospect pool? For players on one of the six unowned teams' rosters, can I assign any player that I draft to paid minors, and then call them up after the FA period based on how my roster shapes up? Drafted players don't have to be rostered, either in this initial draft or in future drafts. Players signed from free agency do have to be rostered (and you have to have an open roster slot when bidding on a free agent). Prospects not on your team's starter roster or initial official roster do not have a contract yet so they are not considered part of paid minors. Thinking of them as being part of your own personal reserve of prospects is fine. You can make a post listing those players...or not. Up to you to keep track of them for future call ups and/or trades. Players on the six unowned rosters: yes, if they have a contract they go to paid minors and you can call them up whenever you want.

I'm looking at possible abandoned teams now, we'll get that resolved quickly.

Yeah, Rocky Mountain National Park = AWESOME. But I should have used more bug spray, haha. I got antibiotics the first day after symptoms showed up though so it's no worries going forward.

for initial rosters, do we need to check all the 20xx players to see if they became 2018 based on IP/PA in order to be approved? Is it PA or AB? If PA and the stats (like Yahoo) don't list PA, should we add AB + BB? I'm also still interested in what the IR rules will be, but that doesn't really matter for quite a few months!

Yeah, update the 20xx guys if they hit the thresholds: 50IP or 150ABs.
IR isn't too complicated, if a guy is on IR you can slot him there but once he's no longer IR eligible you need to get him back on your regular 25-man roster.

Sorry if these questions where all ready posted before.
What are the minimum amount of active players I need on my roster before the first of August and what is the salary cap for next year.

If I want to give a player their real life contract would I give them the salary for that year or the average salary on his contract? Do I have the choice of accepting or declining team options? I want to give madison bumgarner his real life contract but not sure what his salary should be since I don't know how you have Matt Cain 21,500,000 when in 2014 he is being paid 20,000,000. Also since Zack Wheeler was drafted by the Giants and not on the Mets 25 man at the time of the starter rosters does that mean he is my property?

Also since Zack Wheeler was drafted by the Giants and not on the Mets 25 man at the time of the starter rosters does that mean he is my property? Real life contract yearly salary = (guaranteed money)/(number of years), so yeah you just take the average of the contract. Nobody gets to take advantage of option years, only guaranteed years (way too complicated for the board to keep track of team options vs. players options, etc.). Site we use for contracts: www.baseballprospectus.com/compensation/cots/Cain: 6 years/$127.5M (2012-17) - contract is 127.5 over six years (through 2017) = 127.5/6 = $21.25M 2017. Note that buyouts are considered guaranteed money for MLB contracts, that's what is bringing that contract over 20M. Cot's calculates all contracts the same way, so everyone is in the position of paying for buyouts as part of their players prices. MadBum: 5 years/$35M (2013-17) If Wheeler, or any prospect, does not appear on another teams "starter roster" then that prospect is owned by the team that first signed the prospect. So yeah, Wheeler is still Giants property.

What happens for example phillies prospects that go undrafted? Phillies prospects that go undrafted remain phillies prospects. They'll be eligible for the next NFAD. Same thing for contracted guys on the Phillies starter roster, with the exception that when their contract eventually runs out they are free agents.
